Shaker Heights High School Crew Parents, Inc. (SHHS Crew Parents) is a not-for-profit Ohio corporation exempt from federal income tax as a 501(c)(3) organization. The purposes of the corporation are:

  • To provide financial and logistical resources to field a competitive crew team at Shaker Heights High School;

  • To raise funds to subsidize capital expenditures and operational expenses, including but not limited to regatta entrance fees, boat storage fees, equipment purchases, equipment maintenance, and boat transportation cost;

  • To be a part of and support local and national rowing organizations; and

  • To promote the Shaker Heights High School crew program in the community.

The corporation currently owns more than $100,000 in assets – including cox boxes, safety equipment, motors, tents, trailers, etc. These assets were purchased using past fees and fundraising revenue. On average, SHHS Crew Parents fundraise around $25,000 each year to support the activities of the Shaker Heights Crew Team. In general, the organization brings in about $75,000 annually through charitable contributions, fundraising activities, and membership fees. 

Running the organization in a fiscally sound manner, acquiring and maintaining equipment, and planning for the future requires the active support and involvement of all rowers and parents. Without the support of SHHS Crew Parents, Inc. there simply would be no crew team!
