SHHS Crew Competes at the Head of the Cuyahoga (HOTC) Regatta
SHHS Crew Men’s and Women’s Teams are competing at the 2016 Head of the Cuyahoga
(HOTC) Regatta on Saturday, September 17 – the only ‘home’ competition of the season.
Everyone is invited to cheer them on and celebrate the ‘home teams’ of Greater Cleveland at
the Cleveland Rowing Foundation (CRF) Boathouse in the Flats Rivergate Park and along the
Cuyahoga River.
CRF hosts the HOTC regatta every year in mid-September - open to high school, collegiate and
adult competitors from around the country in both sweep and sculling events. The 2015
HOTC had over 440+ entries of rowing clubs and programs from across the U.S., and it grows
every year. For more HOTC details, visit www.clevelandrows.org.
The Cuyahoga River provides a unique opportunity for rowers to navigate the challenging turns
of Cleveland’s crooked river over the 4800-meter course. This racing distance, called a “head
race,” is the standard race format for regattas in the fall season.
Hope to see you at this great free, fun event. Come and cheer on the Shaker Crew Raiders!
